Reduces the size and volume of very large breasts (gigantomastia), relieving back pain, rashes and dermatitis. A day-care procedure under general anaesthesia with strategically placed scars that fade over time.
Breast Reconstruction after Cancer
Women who need a mastectomy need not be left without a breast. Dr Vybhav Deraje works with the breast surgeon to reconstruct the breast either during the cancer operation (immediate) or later (delayed). The most common operation uses abdominal tissue (DIEP / MS-TRAM flap), which also gives a Tummy Tuck; if the abdomen is unsuitable, thigh tissue (TUG flap) or back tissue with an implant (LD flap) can be used. These operations involve 4–5 days in hospital under general anaesthesia. The nipple and areola can later be reconstructed under local anaesthesia, and women having a lumpectomy or partial resection can benefit from oncoplastic techniques to keep the breasts harmonious.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can Breast Augmentation be done without implants?
Yes. Augmentation can use a silicone implant or fat transferred from your own body. Both are day-care procedures under general anaesthesia; your surgeon helps you choose.
Can the breast be reconstructed at the same time as a mastectomy?
Yes. Reconstruction can be immediate (during the cancer surgery) or delayed, using abdominal tissue (DIEP / MS-TRAM), thigh tissue (TUG) or back tissue with an implant (LD flap). Hospital stay is 4–5 days.
Does Gynaecomastia Surgery leave scars?
Usually there is no visible scar on the chest. Treatment is Liposuction, excision or both, done as a day-care procedure.
Does Breast Reduction help back pain?
Breast Reduction treats very large breasts (gigantomastia) and relieves symptoms such as back pain, rashes and dermatitis caused by their weight.
