Liposuction in Bangalore

Day-care removal of stubborn pockets of fat that diet and exercise have not shifted — abdomen, flanks, thighs, arms, back, chin — for a smoother, more defined contour.

Liposuction removes localised fat deposits that persist despite a healthy weight: the lower abdomen and 'love handles', outer and inner thighs, upper arms, the bra line and back, and under the chin. It is a contouring procedure for people near their ideal weight, not a treatment for obesity.

Dr Vybhav Deraje uses the MicroAire power-assisted Liposuction (PAL) system, in which a vibrating cannula loosens fat with less force, allowing precise removal with less bruising.

Areas Commonly Treated

  • Abdomen and flanks (love handles)
  • Inner and outer thighs and knees
  • Upper arms
  • Back and bra rolls
  • Chin and neck (submental Liposuction)
  • Male chest, as part of Gynaecomastia Surgery
  • Fat harvest for grafting to the face or breast

How the Procedure Is Done

A dilute local anaesthetic solution is first infiltrated into the fat to reduce bleeding and discomfort. Through incisions a few millimetres long, hidden in skin creases, the power-assisted cannula loosens and removes the fat in a controlled, even pattern. Several areas can be treated in one session; the total volume removed is kept within safe limits.

Liposuction is a day-care procedure under general anaesthesia.

Recovery

A compression garment is worn for about four to six weeks. Bruising and swelling peak in the first week and settle over three to four weeks; some fluid may leak from the small incisions for the first day or two. Most people return to desk work within a few days and to exercise at two to four weeks. The final contour shows at about three months as swelling resolves and the skin retracts.

Liposuction or a Lift?

Liposuction removes fat but relies on the skin to shrink back. Where the skin is already loose — after pregnancy or major weight loss — removing fat alone can leave it looser still. In those cases a Tummy Tuck, Arm Lift or Thigh Lift, with or without Liposuction, gives a better result; the consultation is where skin quality is assessed.

Risks and Limitations

Contour irregularities, lumpiness, prolonged swelling, numbness, fluid collection and infection are the main risks; they are minimised by careful technique and compression. Liposuction permanently removes fat cells from the treated area, but remaining cells can enlarge with weight gain, so a stable weight protects the result.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Liposuction a day-care procedure?

Yes. Liposuction is done as a day-care procedure under general anaesthesia using the MicroAire power-assisted system.

What is power-assisted Liposuction?

A system in which the cannula vibrates rapidly to loosen fat with less force, so it can be removed more evenly and with less bruising than traditional Liposuction.

Can Liposuction help me lose weight?

No. It removes localised fat pockets for contour and is intended for people near a stable, healthy weight. It is not a treatment for obesity.

How long before I see the result of Liposuction?

Swelling peaks in the first week and settles over three to four weeks; the final contour is visible at about three months as the skin retracts.

Will my skin be loose after Liposuction?

Skin with good elasticity retracts well. If the skin is already loose, a lift procedure such as a Tummy Tuck is usually recommended instead of, or alongside, Liposuction.

Is a consultation a commitment to surgery?

No. Use the consultation to understand your options, alternatives, limitations and recovery, then take the time you need to decide.

Can I get a cost estimate?

Yes — after assessment the clinic gives an individual estimate. Ask what it includes: hospital charges, anaesthesia, implants and follow-up.

This page is general information written by Dr Vybhav Deraje for patients and families. It does not replace an individual consultation; treatment plans depend on clinical assessment.
